Celebrating The Day Of Atonement

Celebrating The Day Of Atonement (Email From Paula White Ministries)

I love to be celebrated on my birthday. Birthdays are very important to me. I would be devastated if my children celebrated me on my birthday one time, then never revisited celebrating me in their life again.

God too wants to be celebrated. God wants and deserves to be recognized for who He is and what He has done. Paul instructs us in 1 Corinthians 10:31 “…whatever you do, do all to the glory of God”.

Unfortunately, so many of Gods children forget to celebrate Him. So often the fulfilled promises of God are lost in our day to day activities and with them the blessings God desires to bestow upon His children.

One of the primary ways God is celebrated are the feasts seasons. The Hebrew transliteration is “moed” which means “appointment”. The most Holy Day of the year, God’s “Appointment with us” isSeptember 23rd! Don’t miss your appointed time and season! I will explain the blessing that comes with the obedience of recognition.

September 23rd marks the Holiest day of the calendar year. Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. This is the one day that God made more clear than any other that He desired recognition for who He is and what He has done. According to scripture, the Day of Atonement “shall be for you a time of holy convocation, and you shall afflict yourselves and present a food offering to the Lord.”

You must understand what was, is and will be accomplished by the season of Atonement for your life.

Each year the priest would make sacrifices on behalf of the people. The time was emphasized by prayer, righteousness and faith. The sacrifices that were made would cover the year ahead for the people. Follow me closely here. The priest would sacrifice a goat to cover the sins of the people. Yet, because the sacrifice was imperfect, the priest could only cover sins not take them away.

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is the ultimate Atonement because it did not cover sins, it took them away completely.

“Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.”
– John 1:29

Christ’s sacrifice is the ultimate Atonement. No longer do we need to sacrifice bulls to cover our sins. Because our sins do not need covering! They have been taken away by the precious Blood of the Lamb!

We have peace with God because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ! Now that we have peace WITH God, you can walk in the peace OF God!

“For in Him all the fullness of God was pleased to well, and through him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.”

– Colossians 1:19-22

The promises of God that come with Salvation extend beyond life after death. They extend to peace, joy, love and goodness. God is the author of all good things, and when you enter covenant with Him, He has nothing but good for you.

There are so many amazing blessings that come by honoring God and obeying His instruction by observing the Day of Atonement, His most holy day!

The blessings of obedience have always been laid out, especially in the book of Joel:

1.    Divine Increase
2.    Revelation
3.    Fresh Anointing
4.    Supernatural Power/Miracles
5.    Restoration
6.    Abundance
7.    Deliverance in the place of shame
8.    God’s presence
