This is a simple teaching of encouragement and revelation to grow in the dimension of a prophetic worship. There is a specific anointing that flows out of this dimension. Stepping in it means we have to know what a prophetic worship is and nurture it. Prophetic worship is a higher space above the mere worship. It is a space where the worshipper and God meet at one point. This is where Darlene Zchech’s description rooted out, I believe. She describe that her experience of such worship is like a “kiss of Heaven on earth.”
Prophetic worship is always fresh from the throne room because it is a kiss of Father God to us.
We will take our key verses from the book of John.
23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” – John 4:23-24 (NIV)
“…But the time is coming—it has, in fact, come—when what you’re called will not matter and where you go to worship will not matter.”
“It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.” – John 4:23-24 (MSG)
23 But the time is coming and is already here, when by the power of God’s Spirit people will worship the Father as he really is, offering him the true worship that he wants.24 God is Spirit, and only by the power of his Spirit can people worship him as he really is.” – John 4:23-24 (GNT)
Jesus prophesied that there will come a time and that it already started when true worshippers will arise. Our generation is a seed of this prophecy. God is raising among us prophetic worshippers.
God is looking and seeking for true worshippers.
Jesus gave simple yet profound criteria to enter and experience the dimension of prophetic worship in verse 24.
It refers to a venue of this worship which is spiritual. Just as our warfare is in the spirit and not against flesh or blood, so is our worship. It means all natural elements are disregarded, but not abandoned. What do I mean by that? The natural things that we do relating to our worship in the spiritual realm such as singing, dancing, shouting and many others are not the platform to reach the throne room. The only platform that can lift us up in worship to the throne room is the Spirit of God; not by our might nor by our power.
Spirit in this verse is also referred to the Holy Spirit. Be aware that the He is within us to connect us to our God in the spirit. Recognizing Him in us and among us in our worship will increase God’s anointing upon us as prophetic worshippers. Remember that anointing is the Holy Spirit. Anointing is actually the soaking, saturating presence of God smeared over someone. When we recognize the very presence of the Holy Spirit in the midst of our worship, we are stirring the anointing among us because the Holy Spirit is the presence of God. Recognizing Him is more than just saying “you are here” but it is more of a relational connection. We talk to the Holy Spirit and then we listen. We say our adoration and then He responds. We need to hear God’s voice during our worship. We need a personal encounter in this dimension.
Prophetic worship is actually a venue to position ourselves in listening to God.
That makes our worship authentic and anointed because God Himself is revealing the mysteries.
It refers two things. First, it is a state of one’s self to be honest and transparent to God in that very moment. It is when we pour ourselves to God from whatever situations we are in in the natural. We begin to show the real condition of our spirit beings and we allow God to continually impart His being Spirit in our circumstances. This is where the second reference comes in. Truth also means the word that God releases during worship. Remember that in the first criteria where God asks for a relational connection. God reveals His specific word for instruction, direction, encouragement and understanding. As we receive it, we obey. We act that word out in the natural. Then our worship becomes true.
Now, when a worshipper is moving in the prophetic with this understanding, extreme scenarios like shouting while singing, violent moves in dancing and deep weeping during worship will not sway him. It is because he knows that God talks during worship. And for a prophetic person, God talks personally. And he will recognize that the person causing an extreme flow in the spirit is just obeying what God says and that God will not release a word to destroy and humiliate His worshipper. The word released is purposed to be obeyed, to edify, encourage and strengthen our spirit beings, not our natural man, because, again, the venue is in the spirit. So if a person who is moving in the natural joins a prophetic praise and worship, he may not find the reason and the effect of these extremes because these extremes are in fact prophetic act of worship in their core nature. And the real scenario of these extremes is in the spiritual realm.
Note from the School of the Prophets of Eunice Bennett Ministries, that as a prophet or a prophetic person, false will never come out from something that is true in the first place.
It is God’s great desire that we move in the dimension of prophetic worship and experience an increase in His anointing over us as His prophetic worshippers.
There is freedom in prophetic worship for a prophetic worshipper!
