Shift of the Sound: REVERSAL

Blessed day everyone! This is our second discussion for our online blog-based prophetic sessions on Shift Series. I hope to God that you were blessed with our first session. For those who missed it, you can still visit it at Fire Brand’s Previous Post. And now, let us enjoy God’s revelations today! Let us get into the Word.

2 Kings 7:1-4 (NIV)

Elisha replied, “Hear the word of the Lord. This is what the Lord says: About this time tomorrow, a seah[a] of the finest flour will sell for a shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria.”

The officer on whose arm the king was leaning said to the man of God, “Look, even if the Lord should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?”

“You will see it with your own eyes,” answered Elisha, “but you will not eat any of it!”

Now there were four men with leprosy[d] at the entrance of the city gate. They said to each other, “Why stay here until we die? If we say, ‘We’ll go into the city’—the famine is there, and we will die. And if we stay here, we will die. So let’s go over to the camp of the Arameans and surrender. If they spare us, we live; if they kill us, then we die.”

The context of these verse is there was a severe famine in Samaria because it was besieged by the king of Syria.  A siege was intended to surround a city, prevent all business and trade from entering or leaving the city, and to eventually starve the population into surrender. And it really worked. It created a famine in the land.

The severity of the famine is plainly described with the act of cannibalism in the region. Mothers eat their children. They will make a schedule for which their sons will be killed and be eaten. One will say “Let’s eat your son today, and tomorrow we will take mine.” How severe could it be? More than we could ever imagine.

Now, in times like this, the best option we can have is to consult the Lord for His very word for us. And I believe that every word that precedes the mouth of God has also the power of reversal as it has the creative power.

His word can reverse anything, everything!

Reverse is taken from Latin words, “re” which means “back” and “vertere” which means “to turn”. Combined together, it became “revertere” as a past participle – “reversus” meaning “turned back”. It became “revers” – “reverse” – “reverser” in Old French. And then it became “reverse” in Middle English.

God is able to turn back things!

God through His very Word created every thing and every thing with a purpose. And even when man was bent out from God’s purpose for him, God was able to reverse the situation and bring him back to Himself. There is a reversal power in the Word from God when He speaks to us.

I say, reversal is on our way! Declare it if we believe it!

  • The Word from God to Abraham reversed the barrenness of Sarah.
  • The Word from God to David reversed the scandal in the palace and brought the king back to God.
  • The Word from God to Joseph reversed the destiny of his family during the great famine in the land.
  • The Word from God to Daniel, reversed the prolonged suffering of the Israelites.
  • The Word from God to Jonah reversed the situation of a nation, Nineveh.
  • The Word from God to Elijah reversed the chaos in the kingdom whose queen is not of God, Jezebel.

We can go on and on and on and see how God’s Word manifested its reversal power over the lives of His people. Now when God is about to release a Word for our situation, who is available and present to hear it?

I don’t know who I am writing for but God wants to speak a Word over a situation to give a halt to it and reverse it for the good of His child. Receive it now!

In our context, we can see two personas. One who heard the word with their physical ears and another with their spiritual ears. The officer, the right hand of the king, and the four men with leprosy.

1) The Officer

When God releases a Word, some of us we heard it with our physical senses from the mouth of a minister, a prophet or the written Scriptures. However, some did not believe it at all. Some even question God and His Word just like the officer in the story. He said, “even if the Lord should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?” In the first place, God through the prophet did not ask a question. Nothing. He just declared! Sometimes, when God speaks, all we have to do is to keep quiet and listen. Let God speak at His own rights. And that we should ask God to teach us the art of shutting up our mouth and opening our hearts. And so what will happen when we belittle, criticize and ridicule the Word that God is releasing to our situation instead of weighing it in faith?

Our opposition to the Word from God cancels our blessing, favor, portion, power and authority locked up in the Word. (verse 2)

The Word will do us nothing when we don’t believe in it. It is simply because the faith that we sow into the Word released to us prepares the atmosphere of expectation and opens the door of fulfillment.

Now, it is imperative to surround ourselves with the right people.

The king had this kind of officer around him. This officer was overwhelmed by the gravity of the situation they are in. It caused discouragement and unbelief in him. For most of the time, the leader’s success is determined by people around him. It is because these people will either push him up or pull him down. It does not mean that when people were walking with us in the past, they will also enter with us into our destiny.

There will be a time that we will have to be decisive in choosing people to be part of our journey in order for us to reach our destiny.

2) The Lepers

When God releases a Word, some of us were not present during the release of the sound wave preceding the mouth of the minister. These lepers were kicked out from the crowd, from among the people because of their physical issues; because of their disability; because of their present condition. They were rejected outside the city.

Now, we sometimes are not in the group or in the congregation for which the minister shall release the Word from God over our situation. Maybe because we have some personal issues the people cannot understand, unique abilities they cannot get along with or destiny calling too big for them to handle. We were then sometimes rejected from our Father’s house, from our local church or group, from our circle of friends, or maybe from our family. But not all rejection is made because we did something wrong or that we were born mistakenly.

Most of the rejection happening to us is because the rejetor cannot handle the grandness of our destiny that they begin sink down hating to admit it to themselves.

These lepers had no access to the king at the king’s court or to the prophet in his house. And they did not physically hear the Word from God. But as they were sitting together at the gate stuck in between thoughts, they perceived in their spirit the stirring that will happen within the city. They began to discuss things over the matter. And they were decisive to press in to the city together in unity; press in to survive; press in to get what they need.

Are we ready and decisive enough to press in to get  our miracle; to get our breakthrough; to get the anointing; to get the fulfillment; to get a Word from God?

In our absence, God has His own ways to speak the same Word into our spirit and we listen with our spiritual ears. Now, every one let us listen to what the Spirit of God is saying to us.

Matthew 11:15 (ESV)

He who has an ear to hear, let him hear.

Now, this is the beauty God is presenting to us from this two personas. Sometimes, we don’t have an access to the prophet. Sometimes, we don’t have an access to the apostle. Sometimes, we don’t have an access to the evangelist. Sometimes, we don’t have an access to the pastor. Sometimes, we don’t have an access to the teacher. Sometimes, we don’t have an access to the minister to get their hands laid on us and speak the Word from God over our situations; over our problems; over our confusions; over our discouragement; over our circumstances. Because of the thickness of the crowd, we can’t get our way to the altar. We can’t press in any longer. But God is too big to be put into our little boxes.

God can speak directly to us over our situation wherever we are at and bring a halt to it and reverse it to extract the good out of it.

Now, when the lepers decided to move into the city with faith, the Lord released a sound.

There is a sound of freedom ringing! There is a sound of breakthrough coming! There is a sound of restoration arising! There is a sound of destiny revealing! Declare it if we believe it!

And the sound drived the Syrians away leaving all their belongings behind. Now, what does this mean? When God releases a Word and we put our faith in it with Him, He releases a sound that makes the enemies tremble at their feet and drives them away.

The blessings that were locked up are thrown open! The deliverance that was halted is running over! The healing that was hindered is breaking through! The favor that was enchained is loosed up! The breakthroughs that were imprisoned are moving out! The restoration that was scattered is coming together!

Now the world today is in crisis!

  • The society is in crisis! The nation is in crisis!
  • The government is in crisis!
  • The education is in crisis!
  • The general health is in crisis!
  • The family unit is in crisis!

THE CHURCH IS IN CRISIS! And we all need every Word from God!

We as the Church should be the channel from where every Word of and from God shall be released through that will bring a halt and a reversal power towards the crises we are all facing. This is the kind of sound that should be heard from the Church!

It is time for the Church to STEP UP HIGHER!

The Church must be a voice more than a noise! Who is ready to open their spiritual ear and release their physical vocal chords and be a voice?

I hope everyone is blessed with the Word from God today! I hope to see you on the next discussion for our Shift Series… There is breaking through in the churches today and we must understand it!
