The Days of David: Invitation to Greatness

I want to welcome every one for this May 2016 Blog Series by Fire Brand Generation Hour. This series is entitled ARISE! With this, it aims to empower us to our prophetic destiny in the Lord. Let us savor every word from our God. We allow the Holy Spirit to speak through these words published online. These words are birthed from the Holy Spirit and may they won’t return to Him in vain.

Let us start now the series with this topic, The Days of David Part 1 – Invitation to Greatness.

God has sent out invitation to all humanity to enter into greatness, into success with Him. Now, this invitation has far reached the ends of the world with the advent of technology in its fair use. This is already a blessing. Why? It is because no man enters into greatness uninvited. We all need to be invited in order to assure our entrance into greatness.

Invitation assures our entrance into the door of greatness towards God’s prophetic destiny for our lives.

Invitation means heaven becomes our endorser towards the door. What God has opened, no one can shut!

All Jesus-believers are invited into this path as He is the only way. If we have received Jesus into our lives and set Him up in the center, invitation is sent out to us by that moment.

Just like the invitation sent out in a Parable for the Great Banquet, not all were ready to respond, prepare and attend the banquet. Most of the time, what God has opened for us, we turn down the invitation.

Luke 14:16

“But he said to him, “A man once gave a great banquet and invited many.”

But now, He is reminding us with fundamental truth of our walk with Him. He invited us all to walk under His greatness. He is ushering us to the greatness of His plan for our lives.

We are all invited! Heaven is our endorsement and He is our endorser. If God be for us, who can be against us?

Let us look at how David got the invitation of greatness being a little shepherd boy.

1 Samuel 16:1

“And the Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.”

Now the back story of this passage is, Samuel was grieved when King Saul disobeyed God and God decided to prepare, raise and soon release a person to takeover the position of Saul. Lo and behold He chose David. He was just a little boy taking care of the sheep, defending them from ravenous wolves and bear.

Now know this therefore, we are individually qualified to be chosen by God to fill up various positions by virtue of the sacrifice made by Jesus at the cross once and for all. If we have Jesus, we are qualified and empowered through the Holy Spirit.

Where are these David’s?

David’s are hidden in their own houses. They were thrown in the field to shepherd and protect a flock. All along, even Father Jesse did not realize he has a king-to-be in their family!

We are hidden in our individual local churches. We were doing things most probably assigned to us. But God has greater gifts He has placed in us which He will be calling out for and on certain positions and occasions.

We all have untapped potential within us.

When God will start to pull out such gifts for a time such as this, expect someone to reveal what was deprived from us. Expect God to just reveal and give out information in the secret. He does wait for us but He had one foot stepped forward to lead us into what He has gifted us.

Why should we know what He has gifted us?

His gifts have the potential to reveal God and His plans in our lives. It will show His purpose for our lives and our function in the global scale of His Body. It will give us something to contribute unto the work of the Lord. We became His divine agents.

Three things revealed as we begin to know His gifts to us:

It will reveal:

  1. His Personhood – that He is a good father who gives gifts to His children as they ask of Him (Matthew 7:11)
  2. His Purpose on our life – the gift will usher us in knowing our part in the Body of Christ (Proverbs 18:16) for us to function accordingly
  3. His Productivity through us – the gift will give us something to do and be productive for the King’s and Kingdom’s sake.

It is sad that we at the local house sometimes do not realize one’s gift among us.

What should Davids do with the gifts placed and anointed in them?

  1. Desire and Discover –

God intends us to discover what He has given us. He does not sit down and just look at us having no direction at all. We have to begin doing something. Sometimes, we do not know His purpose because we have not done anything. Connect to the Body and find out what we can do with what He has given us. We are gifted by God through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Tap into that source and know what He has for us individually and corporately.

God wants us to desire His spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:31). He wants to ask from Him. He wants us to just exercise a child-like faith asking to our Good Father about His gift.

  1. Develop –

Now when we began to know what He has given us, it is ultimately our job to find ways to make it grow and become productive. He has given and will resources to empower the gift. But it is our job to motivate it and fan it into flame as spoken to Timothy (2 Timothy 1:6).

  1. Devote –

It means to commit what we have to the building up and edification of another. What God has given is for the Body. It is not for our own consumption and satisfactions. As we use the gifts He has blessed us with, we promote encouragement and growth in the Body as whole.

And if ever one person holds back his God-given gift to be used for the glory of God, all other people in the Body are robbed of that gift. It is because God purposed to give these spiritual gifts to bless others. Spiritual gifts are not used to bring about titles or positions. – taken from Explosion of Glory eBook.

It is time that we arise under the endorsement of heaven.

It is not a one shot to greatness and success on our God’s calling. But rather an entrance! There might be persecution and opposition along the way just like David in his time.

But the thing is this.

Persecution is an indicator God has opened up a Promotion.

Opposition is a sign God has placed an Opportunity.
