Because we already know that healing is more than available, we will discuss our part so that healing will manifest in greater measure beyond what we can imagine.
We know, faith has so much to do with our God. In healing, we can allow God to get involved in our situation through faith. Why? Because faith means we believe God exists and He is alive to do what He has said He does and will do.
6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Do we know why God asks for our faith in order for healing to take place even though everything is already given to us through Jesus Christ? It is because in the first place, God deserves all the glory and praises. If healing comes when we don’t have faith, God will not get the glory for that miracle because in the first place we did not believe. Therefore we don’t expect God will heal us and we will not recognize Him. However sometimes when healing comes while we don’t have faith, someone stood in the gap to conceive that faith in our behalf. And by that intercession of another, God receives the glory through that person. God asks for our faith so that when healing comes, we will recognize Him in that miracle because we asked for healing with faith.
Secondly, it is God’s way to prevent us from further idolatry. When we receive healing without first having faith, there is a tendency that we fall in idolatry. We tend to idolize ourselves for our victory over the sickness or illness because we are aware we did not believe God for healing but still it happened. We become blinded thinking we don’t need God or we can use Him any way we want. Oh no! God already knows our tendencies. That is why everything boils down to faith that we may decrease in ourselves as He will increase in us.
We have faith then healing comes. We are healed then we know God in deeper and greater way. Then increase in our relationship and worship with our God is accelerated. When the glory of God is manifested, whether in healing or in other area, we will find ourselves in our knees worshipping Him the more. That creates intimacy with our God and the Father is even glorified.
35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out, and having found him he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?”[c] 36 He answered, “And who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?”37 Jesus said to him, “You have seen him, and it is he who is speaking to you.” 38 He said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.
Lastly, God wants to prevent unbelief in our system. If we did not believe then healing comes, how can we believe that we need God for healing? The more we will not cultivate faith in us unless someone intercedes for our healing. That is why at the end of this chapter, Jesus quoted the following.
41 Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.
It is because if the Pharisees were the blind man, they will need the touch of Jesus and they will worship Him. Thus, they will not fall into sin of unbelief. It was because they thought they don’t need Jesus. Even more that Jesus was not recognized as the Son of God. That is why we should have faith! Cultivate faith in our belief system. Return to God and seek Him. Allow His love to be established in us that we will live in faith.
Greater things are coming! Now, get closer to God! Faith! Encounter the Healer ourselves!
